One of the most popular social media sites, Twitter can be a great tool for business owners who are looking to build their brand. To get started on this platform, there’s nothing better than learning how to tweet effectively and what you should avoid while using it. Using these tips will help take your tweets from good enough to great!

Social media has become one of the most valuable marketing tools in recent years. Companies often use these platforms to broadcast their message, connect with fans and build brand loyalty. Each social platform requires different techniques for success, so let’s take a look at how you can get started using Twitter today!The “how to use twitter for beginners 2020” is a step-by-step guide that will help newbies get started with Twitter. Someone recently inquired about how to get started on Twitter. Because I believed it could be valuable to others, I decided to write down my response and put it here. This article is probably not for you if you’re already a Twitter user. Sorry.

This is also not for you if you aren’t a Twitter user and don’t want to be. Once again, my apologies.

But if you’re not on Twitter yet and want to join, I can assist you. I took the time to think it through and write it out, and here are my recommendations in step-by-step format.

  1. Examine your objectives. What do you want to gain from Twitter? Connections in business, leads, customer service, personal relationships, a new career, and timely information are all possibilities. Make a mental note of it.
  2. Create a Twitter account–and keep your objectives in mind while you do so. To create a new account, go to twitter.com and follow the instructions. Choose a Twitter handle–I use “timberry” and my daughter Megan uses “meganberry,” but other people choose names linked to their company or blog, such as my buddy John Reddish’s “getresults” or Anita Campbell’s “SmallBizTrends.” “bplans,” the name of our business plan resource site, is used by Palo Alto Software. It’s something you’ll have to accept.
  3. Create an account and upload a photo. First, have a peek around and see what other people are up to. Because you haven’t followed anybody yet, you won’t be able to view a list of Twitter users; however, you may search for a phrase. Choose a phrase that relates to your area of interest. First, I looked up “business strategy.” This creates a list of published 140-character microposts, which we refer to as “tweets.” The images or symbols that individuals are utilizing will be shown in the list. The majority of individuals use their faces, although some companies use their logos, and some accounts have an icon or something similar. Do not forget to upload anything. Only newcomers are without a photo.
  4. Make changes to your profile. You could start by looking at some instances by Googling for a keyword that interests you and seeing what comes up. Create a profile that is genuine to you, but also shows the part of you that best suits your objectives. Allow your profile to reflect your desire to develop your knitting passion. If you’re looking for a new job, make sure your profile highlights your current position. Of course, make it all real, but you only have a few words to define yourself, so select wisely. Make sure they’re in line with your Twitter objectives. Later on, you may play around with backgrounds and other elements to personalize your appearance. But that’ll have to wait.
  5. Start looking for tweets that you’re interested in. Your aim is to find tweets that are relevant to your objectives. If it’s about your knitting, type in “knitting” and “yarn” and anything else comes up (I’m not an expert on knitting). Look for tweets that provide links to relevant blog articles. Visit the blogs by clicking on the links. Follow individuals who tweet about topics that you’re interested in. Subscribing to blogs on topics that interest you is a good way to start.
  6. Retweet is a useful skill to have. That is, when you see a tweet that interests you, you click a button and retweet it, crediting the original author. For instance, suppose I tweeted:

    (There’s a link to a blog article in the final paragraph, and it’s included in the tweet), then you’d retweet it like follows:

    This provides you with a number of advantages: First, it’s releasing something that seems to be helpful material, so that when someone looks at your Twitter profile later, they may see that you’ve been posting useful tweets. Second, it keeps track of which tweets you liked. Third, it informs the tweet’s creator that you are following him or her, and that he or she may choose to follow you back.

  7. From now on, repeat steps 5–7 to expand your Twitter presence, your list of people to follow, and the list of people who follow you.
  8. Experiment using tweetdeck (my fave) or its rivals to better organize your Twitter universe as your lists become larger. Friends and family, cyberfriends, business, media, news, leaders, and so on are all on my list. The various groups are shown in distinct columns on Tweetdeck, making it simpler to observe what’s going on.

Twitter is one of my favorite social media platforms; I use it often and highly suggest it. The Twitter controversy seems to be settling down now, implying that few people are concerned about who uses it and who does not. However, if you’re an entrepreneur who hasn’t tried it yet, I strongly advise you to do so. It’s not about what people are eating for lunch–you don’t have to follow them–or irritating sales pitches–you also don’t have to follow them. It’s all about what’s new, fascinating, and happening.
