MassChallenge is the world’s biggest startup incubator and competition, currently in its third year. It is free and accessible to high-impact, early-stage entrepreneurs from any sector and anywhere in the globe.
The 2012 Startup Competition and Accelerator kicked out on March 1, and the deadline to apply is April 11 at 12:00 p.m. ET (you’ll have to hurry, but there’s still time!). Expert judges will provide comments on all submissions, and 300 semi-finalists will get the opportunity to present their ideas to the judging panel. From there, 125 finalists will be selected to participate in the program, which includes the following benefits:
- Accelerator for three months. Mentorship and training of the highest kind, as well as free office space, financing, and media exposure.
- A cash prize of $1 million is up for grabs. In-kind support of $4 million or more.
- There is no money invested. There are no limitations.
Palo Alto Software supplied online business planning software to all of the finalists in 2011, and we’re delighted to continue our support of the charity this year. While final figures for last year’s accelerator aren’t yet available, 111 companies sponsored in 2010 generated over $100 million in outside financing and created roughly 500 new jobs in the 12 months following the start of MassChallenge. MassChallenge has been acknowledged by President Obama as one of the most successful programs for assisting businesses.
